THE DESIGN PROCESS

I love designing gardens of all shapes and sizes, taking each client and garden on their own journey through a collaborative approach. Each project always starts with an initial consultation to get to know you and your garden. Projects then broadly follow the design process below with regular updates on progress throughout each stage.

  • 1. Consultation & brief

Every new project starts with a meeting and site visit by myself to discuss and agree upon the requirements and hopes for your garden. From these conversations a client brief is created which is sent following the meeting for confirmation.

  • 2. site analysis & survey

Once the brief has been confirmed, another site visit will take place by myself to gather information and create a detailed analysis of your current garden. The commissioning of a topographic survey will then follow in order to give an accurate base plan to be designed from.

  • 3. Concept Design

Having collated all the relevant information needed, the exciting part begins. During this stage I will create a masterplan outlining the design proposal for your garden. This plan will come with mood boards and 3-D visuals to help you envisage your new garden.

  • 4. Technical drawings

After the concept master plan has been agreed upon, technical drawings are created. These include the General Arrangement drawing, setting out plan and any other technical build drawings as required. All drawings help to ensure a smooth coordination with other professionals involved in the project as possible.

  • 5. Planting Design

During the planting design stage, I create bespoke planting plans for your garden. These drawings set out the location and number of each plant used with a schedule which can be sent to nurseries to help with costing, ordering and setting out plants. A mood board for all the plants is also included to give you a feel for how we are aiming the garden to look. A maintenance schedule will be drawn up to help you grow the garden from strength to strength.

  • 6. Tender & site inspections

I can recommend high-quality professional landscape contractors using my network to help build your garden or you can use your own preferred contractor. If needed, I will help coordinate the tender process. During the build I offer the option of regular site visits to monitor progress and discuss any changes needed to ensure your garden design is built according to our plans.
